A legislative (read 'political') panel has concluded that the Saracuda acted improperly in the Troopergate firing.
The 300 page report can be downloaded in PDF format from a link on this page:
Palin abused power in firing commissioner
The
report finds that this was a factor, but not the sole factor, firing
Monhegan. The report makes no recommendations regarding sanctions or a
criminal investigation.
Well, that's better than what we saw
back in the Whitewater thing, and with Monicagate. I thought Whitewater
was a witch hunt, not from the start, but when it became fairly obvious
that the intent was to one way or another drag up some dirt on Slick
Willie. And the whole thing over Monicagate was overblown...no pun
intended...primarily because I don't know of anyone caught in similar
circumstances who would have admitted it, especially under those
conditions. True, Slick should never have put himself in that position,
and he did lie about it. But realistically, was it really an
impeachable offense?
So we'll see how it pans out with
Troopergate. Will it become a Democratic feeding frenzy? They seem
perfectly happy with glossing over Slick's seemingly endless lies,
Obama's links with Fannie and Freddie, and Ayers, and ACORN, and a host
of other stretchings of truth and lies by omission. Time will tell...
