Hands off Honduras

Le·gal In·sur·rec·tion: Hands Off Honduras

Bill Jacobson's post on Obama's continuing bullying of Honduras contains an excerpt from an interview with a Justice of the Honduran Supreme Court. Click on the link above to read that excerpt.

Meanwhile, here is another excerpt:

While Obama improves relations with Venezuela, Obama has cut military ties to Honduras, is considering a cut-off of all aid, is doing nothing to stop loan suspensions by international organizations over which the U.S. has substantial influence, and is supporting international efforts to isolate Honduras.

Poor and tiny Honduras faces the full wrath of the United States, United Nations, and much of the rest of the world, while nothing is done about Iran. On Iran, Obama and the world acted with the utmost deference, and there were no efforts by the Obama administration at international action. None.

But Honduras, enforcing its own laws against a renegade wannabe President-for-life, for some reason warrants the full force of the United States government and international community. Honduras gets condemnation from Obama, while Chavez gets hugs and Ahmadinejad gets deference. Wonderful. No, horrible.

Politicians

Chris Muir has another good cartoon up about Our Beloved Politicians:

Light of my life

Interestingly, Zed is making pretty much the same observations as we in Blogger Central in our "Don't cry for me, Argentina" post:

Argentina

"Blest is the man whose bowels move ..."

Better eat more fiber. It's a sure way to get to heaven, even better than by being a Republican. So sayeth Isaac Watts:

Blest is the man whose bowels move
And melt with pity to the poor;
Whose soul, by sympathizing love,
Feels what his fellow saints endure.
His heart contrives for their relief
More good than his own hands can do;
He, in the time of general grief,
Shall find the Lord has bowels, too.
His soul shall live secure on earth,
With secret blessings on his head,
When drought, and pestilence and dearth
Around him multiply their dead.
Or if he languish on his couch,
God will pronounce his sins forgiv’n;
Will save him with a healing touch,
Or take his willing soul to Heav’n.

"It ain't a coup, stupid ..."

Here is an excellent opinion piece on the Honduran situation:

Honduras defends its democracy

Note that this is not a junta of colonels getting together and deciding to seize power. This is the Honduran Supreme Court and the Honduran legislature acting to preserve the Honduran constitution against a Chavezian takeover. After due deliberation, and acting in accordance with the Honduran constitution, those bodies ordered the army to take action in order to preserve their constitution.

Obama and Clinton just don't seem to get it.

Obama cans another inspector general

This time it's the Amtrak inspector general.

You know about Amtrak. The Federal government took over Amtrak some 40 years ago to 'save' it.

It has not turned a profit in those 40 years. It continues to be heavily subsidized.

Amtrak also has truckloads of stimulus money, some $1.3 billion and more of your tax bux and mine.

Malkin has the whole scoop here:

Who railroaded the Amtrak inspector general?

Excerpts:

Watchdogs are an endangered species in the Age of Obama. The latest government ombudsman to get the muzzle: Amtrak inspector general Fred Weiderhold. The longtime veteran employee was abruptly “retired” last month –just as the government-subsidized rail service faces mounting complaints about its meddling in financial audits and probes.

and

So, who is behind the railroading of the Amtrak inspector general? As with the story of the AmeriCorps firing, which has First Lady Michelle Obama’s fingerprints on it, the Amtrak case smells like cronyism. Investigative journalist Robert Stacy McCain, who has watch-dogged the watchdog stories, noted last week that Amtrak’s vice president and general counsel is Eleanor Acheson.

Acheson, an old friend of Hillary Clinton, also has close ties to Vice President Joe “Mr. Amtrak” Biden. She hired Biden’s nominations counsel Jonathan Meyer to serve as her deputy general counsel. The two had also worked together in the Clinton Justice Department. Meyer called his hiring at Amtrak by Acheson a “happy coincidence,” according to Legal Times. (In another “happy coincidence,” Biden’s lobbyist son, Hunter, sits on Amtrak’s board of directors.) Acheson oversees the very Law Department accused of interfering repeatedly with the taxpayer advocates in the inspector general’s office.

Boy howdy. You'd better keep your mouth shut in the Hope and Change club.

American politicians

While we have the so-called 'governor' of South Carolina pathetically trying to hold on to his office by claiming all kinds of biblical precedent and example (see the King Mark post), and informing us that his remaining in office is somehow God's way of testing him - and the residents of South Carolina, but that's another story - we have Al Franken preparing to take his seat in the United States Senate:

We give you the Honorable Senator Franken.

This morning's cartoons

A good one from Michael Ramirez, about Obama and his pals backing the Honduran thug:

Parrots

Meanwhile, the mainstream media continues to come to grips with the most important, most vital issues of the day, as we have more tabloid reportage on the sordid and twisted life of that sad little creature who also happened to be able to sing and dance.
